Kaknästornet

Kaknästornet is a TV tower in Stockholm, Sweden. The tower is the hub of television and radiokaknäs broadcasts in Sweden. It was finished in 1967, designed by architect Bengt Lindroos, and the height including antenna is 155 meters. For many years Kaknästornet was the tallest building in Scandinavia, but was surpassed in 2000 by the Kista Science Tower in Stockholm, a mere three meters taller. The tower is owned by the national Swedish broadcasting company Teracom.

The tower is open to the public, with indoor and outdoor observation decks as well as a restaurant. The tower affords superb views of the city.

Katarinahissen

katarinehisseThere is a very odd story about this lift. It was built in 1883 to help the wives of the harbour workers. The men working in the port of Stockholm usually got drunk after getting their wages and never had any money left to dupport their wives and children. So a lift was built so that the men could get home.
